Drag & Drop image files here
or click to select files (JPG/JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF)
An Online Image Compressor is a tool that reduces the file size of your images (like JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP) while trying to maintain the best possible quality. This is essential for speeding up website load times, saving storage space, and making it easier to share images online or via email.
Zenfied's Image Compressor is designed for ease of use and security. It operates entirely within your web browser (client-side), meaning your image files are never uploaded to our servers, ensuring your data remains private and the process is fast.
- Add Your Images: Drag and drop your image files (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP) onto the designated area, or click the area to browse and select files from your computer. You can upload multiple images at once.
- Select Output Format (Optional): Choose your desired format for the compressed images:
- JPEG (Good Quality): Ideal for photographs. Offers good compression with some (often imperceptible) quality loss.
- PNG (Optimized): Best for images with text, line art, or transparency. Uses lossless or near-lossless compression.
- WEBP (Good Quality): A modern format offering superior compression (both lossy and lossless) compared to JPEG and PNG, with excellent quality.
- Keep Original: The tool will attempt to optimize the image without changing its original format (e.g., an uploaded JPG will be optimized and saved as a JPG).
- Compress Images: Once your images are added and options are set, click the "Compress Images!" button.
- Download Results: The tool will process and compress the images directly in your browser. Once complete, you'll see a summary of the compression (original vs. new size). You can then download each compressed image individually or all of them as a ZIP file (if multiple images were processed).
- Clear or Compress More: Use the "Clear All" button to remove all uploaded files and start fresh, or "Compress More Images" to return to the upload screen.
- Secure & Private: All image processing happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server.
- Client-Side Processing: Utilizes your device's power for fast image compression.
- Easy to Use: Simple drag-and-drop interface and clear options for quick image optimization.
- Batch Processing: Compress multiple images simultaneously.
- Supports Common Formats: Works with JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP input images.
- Flexible Output Options: Choose between JPEG, PNG, WEBP, or keep the original format.
- Completely Free: Compress your images without hidden costs or subscriptions.
- No Installation Needed: Works directly in modern web browsers.
- Direct Image Download: Get your compressed images individually or as a ZIP archive.
- Compression Details: See the original and new file size, and the percentage saved for each image.
Our Image Compressor uses advanced algorithms and browser-based technologies (like JavaScript libraries and the browser's built-in encoding capabilities) to reduce image file sizes.
There are generally two types of compression:
- Lossy Compression (e.g., JPEG, some WEBP): This method reduces file size by intelligently discarding some image data that is least perceptible to the human eye. This results in significantly smaller files but can lead to some quality loss if compression is too aggressive. Our tool aims for a good balance.
- Lossless Compression (e.g., PNG, some WEBP, optimized GIFs): This method reduces file size by reorganizing the image data more efficiently without discarding any information. This means there's no loss in quality, but the file size reduction is typically less dramatic than lossy compression.
When you select an output format:
- For JPEG or WEBP (lossy), the tool applies an optimized lossy compression algorithm.
- For PNG or WEBP (lossless), it uses lossless techniques, often involving optimizing color palettes and removing unnecessary metadata.
- If you choose "Keep Original", it attempts to apply format-specific optimizations (e.g., re-encoding a JPG with optimized settings, or optimizing an animated GIF).
All this processing happens on your computer (client-side), ensuring your original images and the compressed results remain private until you download them.
- Faster Website Loading: Smaller images mean your web pages load quicker, improving user experience.
- Improved SEO: Page speed is a ranking factor for search engines like Google.
- Save Storage Space: Reduce the disk space needed for storing your image library.
- Easier Sharing: Smaller files are faster to upload and share via email, social media, or messaging apps.
- Reduced Bandwidth Consumption: Saves data for both you and your website visitors, especially on mobile devices.
- Lower Hosting Costs: Less bandwidth usage can lead to lower web hosting bills.

By using this tool, you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing a secure, serverless experience for image compression.
Is there a limit to the number or size of images I can compress?
While the tool is designed to handle multiple images, performance depends on your browser and computer's memory (RAM) and processing power. Compressing very large images or a high number of images simultaneously could be slow or cause browser issues on less powerful machines. The tool is optimized for common web image sizes.
What image formats can I upload and what are the output formats?
You can upload common image formats like JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. You can choose to output the compressed images as JPEG, PNG, WEBP, or keep the original format (which will still attempt optimization).
How are animated GIFs handled?
If you upload an animated GIF:
- If you select "Keep Original" as the output format, the tool will attempt to optimize the animated GIF to reduce its file size while preserving the animation.
- If you select JPEG, PNG, or WEBP as the output format, only the first frame of the animated GIF will be extracted, converted to the chosen static format, and then compressed.
Is this Image Compressor tool really secure?
Yes, it's designed with security as a top priority. The entire compression process happens client-side, meaning directly in your web browser. Your image files are never uploaded to our or any third-party servers.
Will the quality of my images be significantly affected?
Our tool aims to strike the best balance between file size reduction and image quality.
- For lossy formats (JPEG, some WEBP), there is technically some data loss, but we use optimized settings to make this as unnoticeable as possible for typical viewing.
- For lossless formats (PNG, some WEBP, optimized GIFs), there is no degradation in visual quality.
Can I control the compression level?
Currently, the tool uses pre-defined, optimized compression settings for each format to ensure a good balance of quality and file size reduction for most users. We are considering adding more granular controls (like quality sliders) in future updates for users who need more specific adjustments.
