How is 'Word Count' calculated?
Word count is calculated by splitting the text by spaces (one or more). It then filters out any empty strings that might result from multiple spaces to give an accurate count of actual words.
Does 'Character Count' include spaces?
Yes, the 'Character Count' includes all characters in the input text area, including spaces, punctuation, and newline characters. This gives you the total length of the string.
How are 'Sentences' counted?
Sentences are typically counted by looking for common sentence-terminating punctuation marks like periods (.), question marks (?), and exclamation marks (!). Our tool uses a regular expression to identify sequences ending with these terminators, which provides a good estimate for most texts.
How are 'Paragraphs' counted?
Paragraphs are counted by splitting the text based on one or more empty lines (i.e., two or more consecutive newline characters: \n\s*\n
). Each block of text separated by these empty lines is considered a paragraph.
How does the 'Palindrome Check' work?
The palindrome check first cleans the input text by:
- Removing all non-alphanumeric characters (spaces, punctuation, symbols).
- Converting the remaining text to lowercase.
